The Australorps we'd bought with alleged 'stress symptoms' failed to improve. After a week or so we decided that, stressed or not, we'd examine them closely. What we found shocked us, because the birds were lice infested. We'd taken the white patches to be connected with the acquistion of adult plumage, but under a lens they turned out to be louse eggs.
