The market garden lies between the bungalow's 'ornamental garden' of rough grass and the barn. The pig sty area on the right was full of brambles. Once these were cleared, it became a temporary home for our nursery plants, with polythene covers replacing the corrugated iron roofs. This shelter, and the other plant homes provided by our conservatory and an old polytunnel, all proved invaluable in the harsh winter that followed our move.
